About Gildan Genuine Stewardship
This part of the Gildan Genuine Stewardship program is designed to encourage people to tell us about the charities they support and how they are making a genuine positive impact on the world.
HOW A T-SHIRT CAN HELP MAKE A BETTER WORLD
For every Ultra Cotton (style 2000) t-shirt purchased from the Gildan Genuine Color Collection, a percentage of proceeds –up to $100,000 – will be donated to a registered charity. To begin, select a registered charity you support and tell us how they are making a genuine positive impact on the world in 500 characters or less. Upload a picture of yourself, use your webcam to take a new picture or use one of our avatar’s to complete your profile. Tell us a bit about yourself, and then consider yourself registered.
Once you’ve registered your support, view other people’s stories and "like" the ones you think best demonstrate genuine stewardship. Based on a combination of total number of supporters, number of "likes" and a combined average of the number of times a submission has been viewed and the number of times the submission has been “liked”, a list of ten finalist charities will qualify for a chance to receive the charitable donation of up to $100,000.
The ten finalist charities will be announced in September/October of 2010. A panel of qualified judges will review the ten finalist charities and will determine a single recipient based on quality of submissions and the alignment of their work with the principles of Gildan Genuine Stewardship. The recipient will be revealed in January 2011.
